Environmentalism, Sustainability, and Renewable Resources
The EarthFix Club is a community for people dedicated to solutions for a sustainable planet.
"Sustainability for me is my responsibility towards wise use and proper management of resources so they will be available for future generations. I try to contribute by turning off lights and unplugging electric appliances when they are not in use, recycling, and purchasing environmentally friendly products whenever I can.
- Ashi (Pokhara, Kaski, Nepal)
"I ride my bike as much as possible instead of driving my car. I drive a lot for my job so I strive to not to use a car as much in my free time. By choosing to shop and eat at businesses close to home, I can bike where I need to go."
- Sam (Denver, CO, USA)
Environmentalism
What does it mean to be an environmentalist today? The definition continues to change as we contemplate our existence in a more connected and technologically advanced world. There are few questions that cannot be answered by the breadth of information at our fingertips today. This is our chance not to question the value of our consciousness but to take advantage of it as we define our role in the natural environment.
Sustainability
It's easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of pressure put on us by environmental groups that claim our planet is suffering. Instead of approaching a better world as a necessity, what if the solution were to present itself as a better way to live in our current world? Imagine a world where the average personal can feel confident that the society they live in is not affecting the generations to come
Climate
As our capabilities continue to grow beyond what was ever thought possible, from space travel to communication technologies, we cannot doubt the ability to create a more connected and intelligent platform for interacting with our planet and the resources that are available to us. How we choose to maintain those resources depends on how we choose to develop the networks that drive our interaction with those resources.
The concept of environmental justice is a common theme in the conversation about climate change: The most vulnerable communities are the most likely to feel the worst effects of climate change. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the Black Lives Matter movement of late, it’s that becoming actively anti-racist is perhaps more important than being actively pro-environment.
